Windows 8 L2TP/IPsec VPN setup tutorial


Here you will find how to setup L2TP/IPsec VPN protocol on Windows 8. Setting up HeadVPN access under Windows 8 is simple. The following instructions go step-by-step through the creation process of a L2TP/IPsec VPN connection.


Open Network and Sharing Center from Control Panel. Then choose Set up a new connection or network.

Choose Connect to a workplace.

Choose Use my Internet Connection (VPN).

Type the name or IP address of a HeadVPN server ( you will find the available servers list under your Client Area ).
Enter HeadVPN as the name of VPN connection in the destination name box (you can name it as you want). Then click Create.

Click on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner.

Right–click on the HeadVPN (L2TP) connection and choose Properties from the menu.

Go to Security tab and on Type of VPN select Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP/IPsec) option. Select Allow these protocols and tick as shown on the following screen

Select Use preshared key for authentication and type headvpn into the Key field. Click OK and once again OK

Click on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner and find HeadVPN (L2TP) connection. Click Connect.
Type β€œ\” (without quotes) then your HeadVPN VPN username and password and click OK
