Windows XP L2TP/IPsec VPN setup tutorial


Here you will find how to setup PPTP VPN protocol on Windows XP. Setting up HeadVPN access under Windows XP is simple. The following instructions go step-by-step through the creation process of a PPTP VPN connection.


 

Open the Network Connections by going to the Start Menu and selecting Settings -> Network Connections. You may also find it in Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. When double–click on Network and Dial–Up Connections.

When the Network Connections opens, double–click on New Connection Wizard. You should see the New Connection Wizard screen.

Click the Next button to continue.

Select Connect to the network at my workplace and click the Next button.

Select Virtual Private Network connection and click the Next button.

Type HeadVPN for the Company Name and click the Next button.

Click Do not dial the initial connection and click the Next button.

Type the name or IP address of a HeadVPN server ( you will find the available servers list under your Client Area ).
Click the Next button.

Click Properties button.

Click the Security tab, then click the IPsec Setttings… button.

Check Use pre-shared key for authentication and type headvpn as the key. Click OK.

Click the Networking tab.

Next click the popup menu and change the Type of VPN from Automatic to L2TP IPsec VPN and click OK.

Enter your VPN username and password. Optionally, click ‘Save Password’ to save your password as part of the connection.

Now click Connect and you’re DONE!
